About Lake Wales Housing Authority

The Lake Wales Housing Authority (LWHA) is located in Central Florida 45 miles SW of Orlando and 60 miles East of Tampa. LWHA was created in 1969 to provide housing to low-income families.

The LWHA has one development, Grove Manor, which was constructed in 1971. Currently, LWHA owns and manages 140 public housing units and administers 72 Section 8 vouchers.

A five member Board of Commissioners appointed by the Mayor of Lake Wales governs the LWHA.


Mission Statement

The mission of the Lake Wales Housing Authority is to assist low-income families with safe, decent, and affordable housing opportunities as they strive to achieve self-sufficiency and improve the quality of their lives. The Housing Authority is committed to operating in an efficient, ethical, and professional manner. The Housing Authority will create and maintain partnerships with its clients and appropriate community agencies in order to accomplish this mission.
